The First One-Stop Shop for Diabetes Opens in the Philippines

The Diabetes Store (TDS), our country’s first personalized store for diabetes products and services, had its grand opening on March 12 at the MEDTEK Conference Hall. TDS offers a wide array of products and services that will help people with diabetes check and manage their condition. The store likewise will provide counselling services on proper meal nutrition and queries on diabetes complications. The event started with a store blessing witnessed by the JARC Group of Companies employees, medical practitioners, as well as diabetes patients. Afterwards, they were warmly welcomed by MAN Pharma’s General Manager, Mr. Nicholai Catral. This was followed by a company background and introduction discussed by The Diabetes Store’s General Manager, Mr. Ramon Felix. It was the perfect opportunity for the participants to know more about the store. Mr. Felix shared how TDS will support diabetes management of patients in a friendly and collaborative way. Moreover, he also presented the store’s unique products, which are all classified under the store’s 5 C’s of Diabetes Management. The 5 C’s stand for Check, Control, Consume, Care, and Counsel.

After the introduction, informative and entertaining seminars were then conducted. Dr. Ma. Cecille Añonuevo-Cruz, an endocrinologist from St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, informed and discussed to everyone that the Philippines is now a diabetes hotspot. She said that diabetes cases in the country are alarming due to its increasing rate according to statistics. Meanwhile, Dr. Arvin Marbibi, a diabetologist from Las Piñas Doctor’s Hospital, discussed the main factors that cause diabetes and how to generally manage the condition. While a sumptuous lunch buffet was served, participants were also able to inquire more about the store. They checked out the products while sharing personal experiences. Additionally, a health fair across the store composed of booth tents of the TDS suppliers was also present. The participants enjoyed the free product samplings, giveaways, health assessments, and photo ops in during the health fair. As the event ended, TDS team prepared giveaways containing white canvass bags and goodie burlap kits filled with TDS products and gift certificates.
