Mobile COVID-19 Testing for Returning Workers
On March 21, the majority of our business sector were sent to a halt as our government placed the entirety of Luzon under enhanced community quarantine. More than a month after the sanctioned ECQ, several provinces have now shifted to a general community quarantine, allowing certain businesses to resume operations. President Duterte stated last April 28 that Metro Manila may follow suit soon.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has already stated last April 24 that the private sector has voiced their willingness to construct and abide by health protocols once they resume business under the GCQ. Some companies have pledged to even spearhead COVID-19 testing for their returning employees. The DOH has clarified that this is not mandatory and will solely be under the discretion of the company. The cost of the tests will also be shouldered by the employers.

MEDTEK and the SSMCHEALTH, INC. have collaborated to assist businesses in conducting COVID-19 screening tests for their employees. Our company specializes in marketing diagnostics technologies from around the world to the Filipino market. We have recently gained the Filipino distributorship of the FDA-approved Innovita rapid test kit. Our partner institution, the SSMCHEALTH, INC., is a multi-specialty clinic located in Paranaque City.
Through this partnership, we hope to launch a mobile testing lab that would minimize the need to transport employees to laboratories and hospitals. In our mobile testing lab, we’ll have six personnel: two medical technologists, two laboratory technologists, an IT specialist, and a medical doctor. They’ll have all the necessary equipment and tests within the vehicle. With our test kits yielding results in just 15 minutes, companies can expect a swift turnaround time from our mobile lab.
