On the afternoon of May 24, 2022, the 26th PAMET Midyear Convention was kicked off, welcoming medical technologists from around the country both through the halls of Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City and through their innovative virtual portal. The Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET) held its convention on May 24 – 26, 2022 in a hybrid fashion, slowly shifting into the post-pandemic new normal. The theme of the three-day event was ‘Forging the Future of Medical Technology towards Digital Laboratory Medicine’, an objective consistent with PAMET’s attitude towards adaptive Filipino healthcare.
A series of informative lectures preceded the event’s formal opening ceremonies. Among their notable kickoff activities includes a choir musical performance and the opening message delivered by the PAMET National President, Mr. Rommel Saceda. The rest of the three-day program was jam-packed with timely discussions on maximizing the Filipino laboratory. These lectures ranged from safety protocols to digitalization initiatives – all focused on ensuring that our labs are equipped for the coming post-pandemic transition.
MEDTEK and MAN Pharma, as exhibitors in the event, had set up a joint booth for the entire convention program. Delegates were given certain times in-between lectures to drop by the exhibit hall and browse through the sponsors’ varied stalls. A virtual hall counterpart with all the booths was also designed virtually for attendees who are joining online. Our extended booth was an immediate crowd-favorite, drawing people in with our engaging analyzer displays, detailed product brochures, and fun giveaways. We successfully promoted our lab automations, the i-STAT analyzer, as well as our molecular technologies through our booth.
Now more than ever, PAMET has provided local medical technologists with a deep sense of community through difficult times. Aside from being educational, this yearly convention opens complex discussions about the state of our healthcare industry. Through this event, we saw that with our country’s brightest minds working towards a singular purpose, the future of Filipino healthcare remains bright.
