In the spirit of giving and charity, MEDTEK made its way up North to Tumauini, Isabela for a medical mission. On the early morning of December 9, 2017, MEDTEK and our partners from Tumauini Lodge 251 opened the doors of Paragu Elementary School. Not only were the people of Paragu greeted with free blood and urine tests. Various volunteer groups also provide them with dental services and a feeding program.
MEDTEK had set up a makeshift receiving area, extraction space and laboratory inside one of the elementary classrooms. Inside, about a couple of hundred locals, both young and old, were able to have their blood and urine tested. The fast and accurate diagnosis of our Aria rapid tests, GluNEO Lite meters, and Icon 5 and Drew 3 analyzers made the process efficient for our volunteers. Those tested were immediately given their results which they then gave to the present doctors at the event for interpretation.
Outside, schoolchildren kept the spirits high with dance numbers. A local clown was also in attendance for comedic antics and magic tricks. By the afternoon, the whole village began to make their way home while the volunteers packed their equipment – all with grins on their faces brought by a fulfilling day of laughter, unity, and camaraderie.
Afterwards, the Tumauini Lodge 251 hosted a fellowship dinner for its members and the volunteers that participated in the successful community service event. Each of MEDTEK’s representatives and volunteers received a plaque of commendation during the dinner. This gesture of appreciation, along with the numerous grateful smiles of the Paragu community, has certainly made our days-long travels and services worthwhile.
